Being in the same friend group, we got to know each other through rock climbing, bike rides, and church events. Over many homework sessions that turned into coffee dates, we began to realize how much we cherished our friendship. We always looked for reasons to be together for longer. We trusted & confided in each other in ways we hadn't felt before. We quickly began to see that we cared for each other in a unique and special way, that was more than just a close friendship. It was during a trip to Oregon with our friends that we confessed our love for eachother.
We are both people who crave intentional time with those around us. So, of course, we love quality time with each other. In the midst of Macy doing school and work, and Brian working a full-time job, we knew we were going to have to fight for uninterrupted quality time together. So, each Wednesday we had what we call, "date night". This looked different each week, but somehow always involved food and a fun drink. A ritual in our relationship has been to go for walks together so that is always thrown in on Wednesday nights as well. We vow to spend intentional time together each week during our marriage, to set aside the craziness of the world and BE with each other.
A few days before Valentine's day, Brian planned a scavenger hunt around Missoula. We went to all the places in Missoula that have played a part in our relationship. At each location, we reflected on the conversations we had there and the laughter we shared. Each clue led to the next place. The final location, Blue Mountain is where Brian got down on one knee and Macy said "YES" to forever!
