Proposal Story

After 10 long years of waiting

I finally proposed the night of our 10th anniversary, October 31, 2018. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was working from home, patiently waiting for Hooni to get off work, I had told her I had planned our anniversary. My plan was to propose at Minnehaha Falls at sunset with a beautiful water fall background and eat at one of our favorite sushi restaurants, but, she came home later than expected. By the time we left, it was sunset, too late to use Minnehaha Falls as a location to propose and had to cancel our reservation. I had to quickly think of a plan B! At this time, there was only one place to get a reservation, a steakhouse inside of Mystic Lake Casino, another favorite food spots. Luckily, they had an open table. I found a location! Leading up to my proposal: We got our table, ordered our food, and sat quietly staring at one another for a while (I was nervous!). We talked about what to do after dinner, try our luck at the casino or stop by her brother's place and see the kids for Halloween. When the food came, I got even more nervous, why? Because I knew she wanted to get married for the past couple of years and definitely not like this, at a casino. Dessert came, I asked where she sees us in five years. She answered having a family and being married (obviously). When it came to me to answer, for some reason I started talking about my work, food sovereignty, and before I knew it, fifteen minutes had passed; the restaurant was closing. Why was I talking about food sovereignty? As we were getting up to leave, I got on my knees and took out a ring box from Helzberg. Before I could even say a word, Hooni was shocked, started crying, and had her hand out already. I honestly don't remember what I said, the only thing I remember was putting the ring on her finger, giving her a kiss, and wiping her tears, Oh, she said yes!! I believe the creator works in mysterious ways and maybe this was our way of moving forward into the next chapter of our lives.
