Cyrus and I met through Judge Gibbons (you all will meet him at the wedding if you don't already know him. he is basically a local celebrity and the life of the party wherever he goes). In August of 2017 I was driving from Charlotte to my best friend Rachel's ( Maid of Honor) rehearsal dinner and wedding weekend. I got into a car accident on the way and was unable to drive my car the rest of the way so got stuck in charlotte. Sweet Rachel, in the midst of getting ready for her big day, called her Uncle Brian a.k.a Judge Gibbons, who lives 40 minutes south of Charlotte in Chester, SC, to see if he could pick me up and take me to the rehearsal. I had never met the Judge before but he said of course and drove with two of his teenage sons to come pick me up at my apartment. From there we had 3 hours in the car together where Judge asked me his standard questions including "zaxby's or chikfila?". One of his questions was if I was single which I said that I was. It was from there that he started to propose a new law clerk that just started for him. He described him as " a little quirky" just like me. I gave the judge permission to give him my number and 3 weeks later a random number texted me asking to take me on a date. Cyrus came and picked me up and we went to Cowfish Sushi in Charlotte. After dinner, we drove around uptown for the next 3 hours. I thought it was the best date I had ever been on and I really thought we hit it off.... but he didn't text me for 36 hours after the date. The whole weekend after that date I was so confused, thinking I must have really misjudged my first date connection radar but I later learned Cyrus came up with a 36-hour rule in not texting dates back to make sure he didn't seem "too eager". After that little communication hiatus, we have been together ever since. Our "how we met" story is about as quirky as we are and I wouldn't have it any other way.
