Bret and Rachel met one night in the Old Market in Omaha. Rachel was out celebrating a friend's bachelorette party, and caught Bret's eye at O'Connor's Irish Pub. Bret came over to introduce himself, and apparently his cheesy pick up line near the juke box made a pretty good impression because the two exchanged numbers and met for dinner the following weekend. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Since then, Rachel has attended more Husker athletic events and tailgates than she could ever imagine (don't worry, she will always be a Bluejay at heart), and Bret has been an excellent practice client for all of Rachel's psychological tests (and he's passed them all too!) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Bret popped the question on Cinco de Mayo (thank goodness Nebraska baseball won - otherwise it apparently would have been a "bad omen" and the proposal would have been postponed). Bret & Rachel spent the evening sipping on margaritas, eating enchiladas, and enjoying a beautiful evening with friends! When the sun went down, and everyone left, Bret decided to start a bonfire (For those of you who don't know, this was one of Bret & Rachel's favorite things to do the summer they first started dating). They were sitting outside by the bonfire, just the two of them, when Bret told Rachel that saying "hi" to her was the best decision he's ever made. Bret got down on one knee and asked Rachel to spend forever with him. Obviously she said yes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - We are so excited to begin this next chapter of our lives, and can't wait to celebrate it with you all!
