Brent and I met at our mutual friend Shae Beechler’s 2014 homeschool Halloween Party. While I was not homeschooled, Shae wanted me to come because she knew how much my family loves Halloween. She also invited Brent’s family even though only Rachel, Kaitlyn, Garrett, and Mark were the only ones being homeschooled. Anyway, I was standing in Shae’s kitchen talking with her and other people when I noticed more people come into the house. I looked up and immediately my eyes were drawn to this guy in an Achillies costume. I couldn’t really see his face due to his helmet but I felt something drawing us to each other. We couldn’t stop looking at each other, and eventually, when Shae got tired of me following her around, I walked over and talked to him. From then on we were talking as if we had met before, even clinging to each other for warmth when we were outside during the costume contest. After the contest I left to change out of my costume, I came as a Zombie Bride, and told him I would be right back. When I came back I asked him if he would teach me how to dance, he seemed caught off guard that I was asking him and quickly said yes! Then I also shoved my phone into his hands and also asked for his phone number becuase I figured if he was holding the phone it would be hard to say no. After exchanging numbers he walked me out to the dance floor and we ended up dancing the rest of the night away. To add to the magic of the evening I even saw my very first shooting star while middip as it flew over Brent’s head. Before we said goodbye at the end of the night he walked with me to go get my stuff from Shae’s bedroom, and then to my parents car where he introduced himself, gave me a hug good bye, and then watched as I left the party that forever changed both of our lives.
On September 23rd 2017, I made the best decition of my life. It started by me telling Ally I had a whole day planned out for us. I told Ally we were going to go on a bunch of surprise dates. She had no idea what any of the locations were going to be, every place was a surprise. I also told Ally I was working on a project and needed to borrow her instant polaroid camera. I explained that at every location we needed to take a picture for my project. Ally agreed and did not expect a thing. The first location was were we had our first date. It was at McDonald's. Then to a bridge at Lake Springfield or as Ally calls it the bridge with the duckies. Next was Lincoln Memorial Gardens. Then we went to the mall. After the mall we changed into nice clothes and went to dinner at Steak n' Shake. At each location we took a picture. I then crawled into the back seat and placed the picture into a photo album and each picture had something romatic I wrote. Ally would try to take a peek but was unsuccessful. After dinner we were headed home. When we got close I said oh I almost forgot we still have one more location to go to. Ally was surprised. I got a text from Shae that Allys parents were on the way but were not there. They were running late. I had to stall. So I drove around Sherman yelling at Ally in an Italian accent to keep her distracted. The last location was Shaes house where we first met. It was all decorated. We finally made it and Ally realized what was happening and froze. She would not get out of the car! After several pleas to get her out her legs finally started working. Shae played our 3 songs that are special to us and we danced. Then I grabbed her hands. We were both shaking and nervous. I said some really cool romantic stuff and then got on one knee, pulled out the ring and asked her to marry me. SHE SAID YES!!! We took the last picture and I gave her my project which was a romantic photo album of our whole proposal day!
