It all started at pub trivia! Rachel led trivia every Tuesday night at Park Pub in Phinney Ridge for a few years--right next to David's apartment. Conveniently, David's trivia team left their previous bar to make The Park Pub their new mainstay. The [off-color team name] Team became regulars, and one of Rachel's favorites. One night after quiz, David got the courage to head back in and ask Rachel if she was single. So thrown off by his forthrightness, Rachel said, "yeah... yeah I am!" Rachel and David ended up closing the bar down that night, talking and getting to know each other. Rachel gave David her number, but she didn't hear back for three days! When David finally called, he asked Rachel out for dinner for their favorite food: sushi. He took her out to Momiji on Capitol Hill, and they've been ordering nigiri and sake ever since.

In their first month of dating, Rachel took a heritage trip to Sweden with her sister, Deanna. With no one to watch kitty Naoko, David offered, and he watched Naoko for three weeks! When Rachel returned, she offered to pay him. David said, "Not necessary! Instead, why don't we just go out to dinner right now, instead!" ;)
