The clouds parted, the stars aligned, and we first laid eyes on one another at the epicenter of all romance—law school. It was Fall Semester 2012 at the Seattle University School of Law. We were chin-deep into the first semester of our 1L year and happenstance had us taking the same schedule of first year classes. Romance 101 is not a course offered by SU Law, but serendipity had other plans. Eyeing each other from across the lecture hall, the ice was broken by way of a kind invite to each of us from a mutual classmate to join him for a home-cooked meal and meet some more of our law school cohort. Daehoon Park—we owe you for that invite (and thanks again for the great food)! The quintessential Midwesterner, Breanne wanted to make sure the “Seattle Freeze” didn’t lead to classmates skipping out on Daehoon’s kind invite to dinner. Overhearing Daehoon’s invite to Robbie, Breanne quickly jumped in to supply enthusiasm for the dinner to ensure attendance. Already sold on attending, Robbie couldn’t help but smile at the amazing Breanne’s energy. Robbie’s smile didn’t stop even as Breanne took the opportunity to clear the air and make sure that if he happened to have caught her starring at him in class it was only because he looked exactly like one of her great friends. For the record, both Robbie and Mike Scanlan are handsome folk and it’s perfectly normal for people to stare in appreciation. The dinner turned into studying which turned into dating that then turned into over seven years of fun, adventure, and amazing memories!

Christmas Day 2018. Port Townsend. A crisp December day with sunshine and glimpses of blue sky amidst the clouds. Breanne and Robbie go for a walk through Fort Worden State Park. They get to the top of Artillery Hill. A view. A ring. A Yes! They start walking back home and realize they forgot to document the momentous occasion. Oops! A return to the peak to do it all again. Selfies ensue and the great adventure enters a new chapter!
