Our Crazy Beautiful Story

Our story honestly may not have happened if it weren't for three little ingredients: a wedding, a pandemic, and a week-long ice storm. Let me explain. The beginning of this story starts when I was attending a wedding in December 2019. I didn't recognize many people, and I happened to strike up a conversation with a sweet young couple who I recognized from their walks around my neighborhood. Trying to keep the conversation going, I said "Oh, I think there's this guy I know named Jason who lives on your street. Have you met him?" Carolina responded... "Umm... actually yes! He's my triplet brother and he lives with us!" We all died laughing at the fact that I just tried to introduce her to her own brother. And that's how I got to know my soon-to-be in-laws...Zane and Carolina! 😂 Well... Zane comes back from that wedding and tells Jason "Listen, you've got to date Bre. She can really dance!" And Jason is like, "She's dating someone else, not gonna happen!" And we all move on with our lives... Until June 2020. Now working remotely (also single again), I was working and traveling to visit my family in Colorado, Florida, and Arizona. Jason slid into my dm's one day with some smooth comment about how jealous he was of all of my travels, and asked when I would be back in Abilene. Y'all. This man waited a month for me to get back to Texas so we could go on a walk. The minute I saw him, I announced "By the way, I'm moving to Dallas in 2 weeks!" (I didn't want to lead him on if he thought this was going somewhere...) But he then made it his mission to spend as much time together as possible for those 2 weeks left in Abilene playing tennis, going on walks, and bringing me smoothies. During the Fall of 2020, Jason was intentional in maintaining our friendship long-distances, making lots of visits to see Mason in Dallas and meet-up with me "while he happened to be in town". Finally, in February of 2021, I caught covid and was home for 2 weeks recovering. During that time, we talked almost every day and he promised to come to Dallas and take me on a date as soon as I was covid-free. On February 12, he took me on a date, and I realized my feelings had started to develop beyond our friendship. Cue... the ice storm. The day after our date, the ice storm came to Dallas in full force, and Jason found himself stranded. The hotels filled up quickly with people displaced from their homes, so my roommates (shoutout to Madison and Katherine) decided he could stay on the couch. What we thought would be 1-2 days turned into a full week of making fires in the fireplace, "ice skating" to the grocery store, watching movies, and enjoying time together. By the end of that week, I knew deep down... this is it. The rest, as they say, is history! We continued to date long-distance from Abilene to Dallas until July 2021, when Jason moved to Dallas and started his new job. We spent the fall traveling all over the country, and in December, he popped the question! (FINALLY...) Our love story is my favorite, and we are both SO thankful to God for using the craziness of 2020 and beyond to bring us together! We can't wait to celebrate more with you!! Love, Bre & Jason
