Question

What's the plan?

Answer

This merry occasion is celebrated with inspiration from Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, set in the year 1790 and penned in 1820. The turn of the century marks a confluence of styles drawn from the Federalist, Rococo, Colonial, Regency, and Romantic eras. All times when cloaks, capes, frock coats, long greatcoats, mufflers, and sturdy boots would ensure warmth while reflecting the character of the period. Winter attire in dark or dusky blues, foggy grays, black, white, and earthy browns will beautifully compliment the atmosphere. Do you like capes, canes, and top hats? Do you enjoy wearing gothic or steampunk clothing? Well then bring that drama! It will be chilly and misty. This is an outdoor event. Dress warm. The walk to the ceremony site will be outdoors on mown grass and woodland trail. Boots or sturdy shoes are recommended for the walk, (it wouldn’t be out of place to change shoes when we return to the reception.) Guests are asked to arrive at 2:30 pm. The provided address takes you to a large paved parking lot at the reception site which is at the old Hartwood golfcourse where the clubhouse has been converted into Elaine and Brandon’s Washington home.Your car will be easily accessible throughout the reception. After arrival, we will gather on the patio for a poetry reading and then walk the grounds to the ceremony site. Before entering the wooded area, all guests will be asked to power down devices entirely to be fully present with us. We are asking that no personal photos or videos be taken during the ceremony. We’ve arranged for a talented photographer to capture the moment, and we’re excited to share those memories with you afterward. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all!

For all the days along the way
