Carly's Version I was NOT excited to train a new co-op to take over my position, but I was headed to college in the Fall and knew it needed to be done. I couldn't sit in on the interviews because I had to go to class, but before I left that day I made sure I went to my boss to request that she at least hires a cute co-op if I have to spend 8 hours a day with them. It was June and the new co-ops orientation day, I was sent to pick them up at corporate and to bring them back to the plant. (I was still not too excited about it) I walked into the room to wait for them to be finished and then we headed to the car. I was not too thrilled that they were starting at the beginning of Summer and really convinced myself that I didn't like Brady before I even met him (oops). I can't say it was love at first sight, because it wasn't. I found his presence annoying... I was a hormonal teenager who hated everyone and didn't believe in love. I once made Brady read something I wrote about how love isn't real and how you can make yourself love anyone LOL! However, the more time I spent with Brady the more I laughed and the more I talked about him at home and to my friends. It wasn't until one day someone asked me if I like him because I talk about him a lot that I actually realized how much I did like him. Except I was going to college and I was his "boss" so I knew it was not appropriate and should try to ignore my new found feelings. Then we went to a Loons game for work and as we were walking out Brady grabbed my hand. I think my heart stopped... I was talking and paused mid sentence. Then we went to boaters beach together, then on a date and then before I knew it we were spending well over 8 hours a day together, (and I liked it). Many of you know the rest of the story... then we went to SVSU together, then started our careers in Saginaw together, then we got engaged, then we got our Fur Baby Oakley and well the rest is yet to come. All I know is that I love Brady and I am so thankful that the geeky co-op was hired to take my position 8 years ago.
Brady's Version There I was sitting in orientation for my first "real job." I was 17 and starting a Highschool Co-op at Dow Chemical. We were told that our bosses would be picking us up at some point in the day to take us to our designated buildings. I didn't really know who my boss was at that time because there was a few different people that interviewed me and they had mentioned there were some changes going on in the near future. I was expecting to see some one that was a part of the interviewing process that day. I was very nervous and focused on acting professional. At some point all of the 25 bosses that were there to pick up new employees were let into the room and lined up in the back of the conference room to wait for the presenters to dismiss us to them. In that boss line up was Carly. I spotted her as soon as she walked in the door. I thought she was older when I first saw her so I was thinking "damn, that girl's a fox". She stood out like a sore thumb next to 40-50 year old cohorts in the line up. She was also the only one wearing bedazadly pink sperry boots. I caught myself starring at a her a few different times. Trying to stay focused I continued looking for people that interviewed me. Then the presenter released us and the bosses walked up to the new employees at the tables. A girl (Lindsey) I didn't recognize walked up and said "Hello I'm here to pick you up" I was like ok cool she must be my boss... then I get up and start walking with her and she headed over to this "Fox". We get right next to Carly and she looks at me and says... are you ready to go? I was confused beyond belief. Then I was thinking oh damn she must be my boss too. I'm sure I was blushing because I had been staring at her for the last 10 minutes. Then we grab the other co-op that was starting in the group at the same time who she yelled at because he was sitting at a table waiting for our actual boss, (who he knew) to come pick him up and she had told him twice that she was there to pick in up. Regardless it was funny and intimidating as hell. So Carly and Lindsey walk us out to the car so we can drive into the plant and the first question she asked us was "Why did we decided to start so early" and I was half way through my long answer about how I wanted to start working so I could have money for the summer and she cut me off and rephrases her question by saying "No, why are you starting this early in the summer because lindsey and I are not done with our co-ops until the end of the summer and we don't have enough work to stay busy" at that point I was like damn she's spicy, my age, and already hates me. The ride form cooperate to the plant was roughly 10 min and that short and irrupt exchange took up 1 minute of it and the other 9 mins was spent with carly cranking the radio singing "love the way you lie" by eminiem and showing us how she can call dolphins with her dolphin matting call. By the time we got to the plant I was confused, shocked, intimidated, and interested all at the same time. Little did I know that was how the entire summer was going to go. The rest of the summer was spent going to lunch with this sassy energy ball that abused the speakers in any car. 8 years later she is still scaring the shit out of me.
