It was the fall of 2017 and the two of us were in school at Midlands technical college, in a Biology class that we both had to take, Brad was mesmerized by the girl across from the table, He was actually glad he chose to take this class now. After Several classes Brad finally said something, and it would be the spark that started it all. We became close friends, and as school took Brad to Louisville the two never forgot about each other and in 2019 Lydia took a trip to Louisville and that spark was back, and it just felt different for both of us, We officially started dating on October 31st of 2019. Then Covid came about, and from 2020-2022 we were in a long distance relationship with Brad living in Brevard, However it worked for us, even with losing loved ones the trust and love we had for each other allowed to grow the bond we had, Covid was very difficult after mentally for us for several reasons. When the world opened back up in 2021 we were able to travel together and we were able to do what we love doing together. In 2022 I knew this was going to be the year to take this relationship to the next step, In December of 2022 we were engaged and are so excited to start a life together, full of goals we have set for each other.
When I was starting to look at rings for Lydia I had an Idea of what I wanted to get. I knew that Lydia wanted a ring that was simple yet beautiful. I will say that the experience of buying the ring in Atlanta was an exciting one to say the least. Engagement Day was also Move In Day for us into our house in Columbia. Thankfully, all our family and close friends were there to help with the process. There were many moments throughout the day where we thought Lydia would catch on but thankfully she didn't. The plan was simple, that night we would go see the lights at the zoo, I would propose, and then we would go out to dinner. Simple plan, but we were running about two hours behind schedule. We did make it to the zoo, but our parents beat us there, and were standing in front of the entrance. How Lydia did not notice them was a relief and shock! Then my nerves set in and it was unlike anything I've experienced. Carly was at the zoo to video the proposal at the bridge. She was waiting for us, but Lydia decided we weren't going to take the bridge, and I couldn't wait any longer, I got down one one knee and attempted to open the box to get the ring. After scrambling, I was finally successful, I had the ring, I asked the question, and Lydia said yes! Following the proposal, we met our family and close friends for dinner to celebrate! We are excited to share this moment with all our family and friends and be surrounded by their love and happiness.
