Kim found Brad across state lines on a dating site called Elite Singles. His search radius didn’t extend beyond Salt Lake County and she decided to try long distance for a day. No more than a day. It was love at first text. Brad had mentioned his best attribute was his spleen and she felt her pancreas was a work of art. Yes, they skipped those superficial features of eyes, face and beauty and quickly went deep.
After five months of texting, emailing and phone calls they met in Houston on Valentine's Day at a family owned, local Tex-Mex restaurant, La Mexicana. A margarita, dinner, and a solo dance (what is wrong with you people come join us on the floor) across the street at Lola's and before the end of the year they were sending out joint Christmas cards.
It was a hike or a forced march (depending on who you asked) to Silver Glance Lake. A large, flat rock, provided the perfect place to roll out the picnic blanket. The dinner was placed with barely a notice until the champagne bottle piqued Kim’s interest. Ring boxes were set out and a stack of papers were pulled from Brad's pocket. As he unfolded the paper preparations, he had his love’s full attention. With a deep breath, he started. “Kim, you are my love and my zing, will you marry me?” and with that, he folded up the papers and put them back in his pocket. Staring intently, she laughed. She laughed. He had poured his heart out on this most important day of his life, their lives, and she laughed! “Yes!” and then she laughed some more. That was good enough for him.
