One day in December 2022, Bethany downloaded a dating app to try and win a bet against her mom. Bethany lost the bet, but she never deleted that dating app—it was simply off-loaded and she never got notifications. One day, her dad and a friend found out that she still had the app and thought it was funny, so they took it upon themselves to swipe on men for Bethany. Low and behold, they came across Brad's profile and Bethany's dad swiped right. Brad messaged Bethany and after about a month of conversation, he finally asked her out. They went on their first date to Cedar Springs Brewing Company in February of 2023. When they finally stopped talking for a brief moment to look at the time, they realized they had sat in that restaurant and talked for 2 hours, though it had only felt like 20 minutes. They realized that there was something different about this first date that they had never experienced before. They decided to pursue each other, with God at the center of their relationship. Here they are a year later, getting ready to spend the rest of their lives together.
On October 6, 2023, Brad and Bethany were on their way up north for the weekend and Brad had the whole thing planned. He had asked her dad and got the ring that week and now it was go time. After a last minute change of plans, Brad took Bethany to his family's hunting spot in Baldwin to show her one of his favorite spots. After a 15 minute two-tracking ride through the woods in Brad's Acadia, they had arrived and after getting out of the car, they walked for a minute and then he popped the question! Brad claims he doesn't remember anything other than stepping out of the car and Bethany saying "of course I will!" It was just the two of them with no cell service so they took time to just be and prayed together before leaving to call all their family and friends to tell them the good news!
