It all began at an Inflatable Head show at The HOB Tavern in Bordentown, NJ. Marlee and Chris' mutual friends Anthony (Officiant) and Tyler (Groomsman) were playing music, and Marlee spotted Chris across the bar - wearing a brightly colored rainbow crochet beanie. They were instantly and mutually smitten with one another.
Many months passed before their next encounter, when Marlee visited Chris in Philadelphia for their "first date". They walked all over the city, taking in fine literature (Alice in Wonderland), fine cuisine (Tattooed Mom's), and fine beer (Parks on Tap). They met up with Anthony and some other friends, then ended the night singing karaoke at a Mexican restaurant. They agreed that these were the best things in life, and over time, found they enjoyed these things even more together.
By Fall of 2019, Marlee and Chris were ready to take the next big step in their relationship: flipping Marlee's '97 Dodge Ram Van (named Willard) and turning it into a mobile home suitable for an extended cross-country road trip. Their favorite spots included Junction, TX, where they slept in the town park (legally and for free!), and Silver City, NM, where they had an enjoyable encounter with a woman walking her cats in the RV park. There are many lessons to be learned from life on the road, and this trip taught them both how to cooperate and collaborate with one another.
After touching every corner of the country while sharing a 6'x8' moving bedroom, Chris and Marlee were more fond of each other than ever and decided to acquire more stationary living quarters. While the cats Teeny and Tabitha were not thrilled to become PA residents, they were quick to adapt to city life. In their current home in Germantown, Philadelphia, you can often find Marlee and Chris cooking an excellent meal full of local veggies from Chris' workplace, playing a game of backgammon or scrabble, or hosting a wide variety of friends. They're looking forward to creating many more memories!
