Our future wedding song "Come Away with Me" by Norah Jones
Boston and Jason met in New Jersey during their Junior year art class at West Morris Central High School. They became great friends, sharing an interest in wrestling; Boston served as the wrestling statistician and Jason was on the wrestling team. The hallmark of their relationship was the ability to be their genuine selves with each other. While they had crushes on each other, neither one was able to muster the courage to tell the other. After graduating high school, Jason moved to Virginia and they lost touch. Thirty-one years later Boston and Jason reconnected when Jason made a corny comment on one of Boston's Facebook posts. Before long, both knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Between them, they have six amazing children and three rescue dogs.
In March 2022, at the beginning of their rekindled relationship, Jason participated in a personal retreat with his church at the Rosyln Retreat Center. Here he reflected on what a future with Boston could look like. On July 21st, he returned with Boston to the very same spot under a shady tree, dropped to one knee and proposed. Boston's eyes teared up and she said yes. Together, they walked around the grounds of the Retreat Center and talked about their future plans to combine their families.
When Boston and Jason reconnected, they shared long phone calls discussing areas of common interest which included the Netflix show Vikings Valhalla. Soon they began using the character names "Freydis" and "Harald" as terms of endearment for each other. Later, Jason named the decorative poolside flamingos in his backyard Freydis and Harald. This inspired their wedding theme "Flamingo Valhalla".
Everyone who knows Jason, knows that he is a budding mixologist. And anyone who knows Boston, knows she loves a great margarita. Her favorite was a Spicy Pineapple, until Jason made her one of his infamous Lavender Margaritas. But before Boston could taste test which was her favorite, Jason, at her request, humbly recorded a blogger-style video, making margaritas for them to share virtually. His effort to do so caused Boston to say out loud (with a big smile) to a close friend, "That is my future husband"! #loveandlavendermargaritas
Last year before Jason and Boston started dating, he had purchased two front row seats to the Norah Jones concert at Richmond's Virginia Credit Union LIVE. However, he had no idea who he would take. Shortly after he and Boston first reconnected, Jason took a risk by recording himself playing the guitar and singing Norah Jones's hit "Come Away with Me" and sent it to Boston. To this day Boston feels Jason is the better artist. As fate would have it, Jason asked Boston to be his date at the Norah Jones concert. During the July 22, 2022 concert, while watching Norah Jones perform "Come Away with Me", both knew this was meant to be their wedding song.
