Bride
Well, Bobby is what I like to call my Covid Fiancé. When the world shut down in 2020 so did our hopes of finding someone. We both were alone and turned to dating apps to see what may or may not offer companionship during a wild time. I worked in the hospital providing rehabilitation therapy to patients surviving COVID-19, and that is when I stumbled across Bobby. Wine drunk, on the couch, with my cousin (Megan THE MATCHMAKER) broadcasting my dating app to TV. We came across this bearded man who liked country music and I gave him a swipe. 3 days went by until he decided to message me back, that night we Facetimed for 6 hours. The next morning like the gentleman he is sent me a Starbucks gift card to buy myself a coffee for staying up to late talking to him (cheesy I know) but such a refreshing moment to realize this is a man of kindness and a true gentleman. Bobby is truly the best thing I have found on the internet, well maybe tied with our adorable dog Kora.
Groom
Where do almost all relationships begin during a pandemic and in our generation… Swiping right! It began from apposing coasts but worked out great leading to our first date here in San Diego, CA. Understanding she just began her Masters in Occupational Therapy, I made it a point to visit her whenever possible in Orange County, CA and lent all support for her endeavor as possible. A year later moving in together here in San Diego brought us much closer and learned how to balance living with one another while Gabi finished up her last year. Discovering how to work together as a team and moving into our second year in a relationship made me see the true love and meaning of it all. She was the one. Discussing the future with my dad around a fire and understanding what marriage should be, it was simple… ask her dad for her hand in marriage. Asking her dad felt so right but asking the question took an all-day event and many adult beverages consumed. Joe answering back with “you can’t just have one hand; you can have both!” Million pounds lifted off my chest but now the next item was to ask the question. With my grandfather going through Bootcamp at Liberty Station and visiting there often as a San Diego resident, I knew that was the right thing to do! Set up the photographer and played it off like it was a family photoshoot with our new pup, Kora. A few shots later and not knowing what I said when I dropped to my knee… She said YES! So here we are today ready to do the damn thing!
