Two kids who happened to spend their childhoods editing home videos with siblings and friends. Two kids who happened to love filmmaking so much, they wanted to do it forever. Two kids who happened to love each other so much, they'll do it forever... together. Room 603. It was pretty much inevitable that we'd find ourselves in the same video production program our senior year of high school. This is where our beloved mentor, Kim Robinson Forbes, brought students from all walks of life together with film and the art of collaboration. We had no idea that joining Valencia Television would completely change the course of our lives. That love for film production sparked an undeniable and rare bond that has been the biggest blessing to us in life thus far. We've learned that no obstacle can keep us from falling even more deeply for each other. We're so ready to tie the knot!
It all began in 2013, in the late night VTV group chats. T and I would usually be the last students awake. In an effort to stop bothering everyone else in the chat after hours, I decided to message her separately since it would always be us two in the end anyway. As we talked, we realized we had a lot in common: music interests, career ambitions, humor, and much more. We quickly became best friends. We found ourselves looking forward to one another more than most things. Not too long after we clicked, we were given the opportunity to produce school rally videos together. Here, our friendship bloomed into something even greater, but we had no idea how drastic our lives would change from the little decisions we made. Fast forward a year - we’re not only deeply in love, but working tirelessly on tons of videos together. To our amazement, all of my strengths were her weaknesses and all of my weaknesses were her strengths - as if we were two pieces of a puzzle meant to be put together. I feel whole when I’m with Teryn. Not a day has passed since the start of our relationship that we haven’t talked and last year, we got engaged. Many people thought there was no way that Teryn didn’t know it was coming, but surprisingly she didn’t. It was truly a family effort - I had hidden photographers capture the moment, my mom helped design and setup a romantic table, and my dad brought dinner to make sure it was warm. All the while Teryn thought we were headed to take couple photos together. When I proposed to her, it was the happiest I’ve ever seen her. She was so ecstatic that she forgot about the ring; something I’ll never forget about the proposal and proof that the real diamond to her was a lifetime with me. I am truly grateful to spend my life with someone who values me as much as she does; someone who is my best friend, work partner, and love of my life.
In 2020, Brendan had me convinced we’d be engaged in 2021. Of course I was deceived in the best way. On September 12, 2020, the goal was to meet some photographers Brendan was friends with in Ventura. After the lost time of the pandemic, it was the perfect excuse to get away for the weekend - so I was told. We arrived at Seacliff Beach from a Charlie Chaplin-themed hotel in nearby Santa Barbara. We walked across the beach cracking jokes, and I remember wondering who in the heck were we supposed to meet?! It was as if we were the only ones there. Then I realized we might be walking toward something... Brendan loves when I mention the fact of leaving my glasses behind - so when I say we were walking toward "something", understand that I was LOST at what it could be. Once we got closer, I was amazed. Everything was so beautiful… but I had so many questions that I proceeded to ask all within what felt like a second. Is this for us? You did this? Where’s your photographer homie? Are they not coming? Brendan?! Looking back, let's just say I wish I had no words. I’m looking down at everything and the next thing I know he’s guided me to the very spot where he got down on one knee and told me how much he loved me. Brendan, your smile and your words were perfect. I’ve never been overwhelmed with so much unspeakable emotion. Bren put that ring on my finger and I knew everything we’d been through to get here was worth it. I looked over my shoulder after everything to see the said photographers snapping away behind an umbrella. We ended the night with wine over Italian on the beach. Still feels like a dream to me.
