It all started at a Subway in Fort Thomas, Kentucky (yes, the sandwich shop) when Blake – a seasoned Sandwich Artist™ – first laid eyes on Andrea. He knew immediately she was destined for sandwich greatness. We formed an instant bond over music and closing shifts, which was especially easy because Blake lived right next door. We still remember that one closing shift when we discovered we had the same birthday! We started dating soon after and adopted a boy kitten we named Pamm (after the cooking spray, of course). We then moved to Pittsburgh about a year into our relationship where Andrea would go to pursue her mechanical engineering degree at Pitt. Pamm eventually needed a friend to get him acquainted with Pittsburgh life, so we then adopted a yinzer cat named Marge (short for Margarine). In 2018 Blake joined electrical union Local 5 and started his apprenticeship, and in 2020 Andrea got her degree and started designing lunar rovers full-time. As of August 2023, Blake is a full-fledged journeyman! We adore Pittsburgh so much that we bought a house here almost 3 years ago, and it was in our backyard that we finally proposed to each other. We never felt a rush to get married, because we knew one month into our relationship that we were going to spend the rest of our lives together. However, after a wonderful weekend together in May 2023, we finally said, “Why not?” We had been planning each other’s rings for months, and that night just felt right. In the almost 9 years we’ve been together—basically our entire adult lives—we’ve become absolute best friends that share our greatest, worst, and goofiest moments together. Whether we’re just laughing and eating at home (eating is one of our favorite pastimes), broken down on the side of the road (PA, KY, WV, VA, NC, SC, OH, wherever), or going to see our favorite bands in concert, we’re always in it together.
