How we met

It all started with a martini and whiskey coke

Our love story started during a 100 years flood. A bad day at work turned into a text to meet for drinks, then came the rain... and boy did it rain. We borrowed trash bags from a bar on Dickson just to make it back to our cars and the roads flooded. We spent the rest of the night watching Mama Mia!, laughing and getting to know each other. We’ve been inseparable since then.

The Proposal

September 15, 2020

Let’s just say she tried to ruin the proposal (unknowingly) several times. We went on a road trip to Whitefish, Montana to hike Glacier National Park. When we hit the Rocky Mountains the skies turned smoky... so smoky in fact, that the air was considered hazardous. That took hiking off the list for the first day. Tanner thought he’d propose on Tuesday at the lake. I was even dressed, had curled my hair and he’d hired a photographer. The problem... I didn’t think I was wearing the right clothes to hike around the lake and ordered us home before he could pop the question. The next day, the skies had cleared significantly and Tanner packed us up to go hiking. We drove the Going to the Sun Road and found a full parking lot at Logan’s Pass. My patience was wearing thin as we drove in circles trying to find a parking spot. Thirty minutes later and half a mile down the hill, we started our trek to the top of the Hidden Lake trail. This was not where he proposed, but the hike is essential to the story, because it turns out I had chapped my a** on the hike. I only realized this after we drove to Avalanche Lake Trail, almost sent us home to get burgers (because more horrendous parking issues), and finally jumped out of the car. We had a two mile hike ahead of us to the proposal spot and I didn’t think I could do it. Tanner reassured me it would be worth it and we set off. At the lake I asked the first person I saw to take our photo. Of course I asked the one person who didn’t know how to work a camera out there. After Tanner showed her how to take our photo, we smiled and he got down on one knee.
