We’re getting married!

Keaton and I first met in the 5th grade, but pretty much all I knew about him was that he was the boy with the really bad poison ivy and his mom was our librarian, lol! We became friends in middle school and both played basketball. I remember when Keaton would get a hall pass to “go to the bathroom,” just so he could sneak down to the doorway of my class and wave at me. We spent most of our summers growing up at Douglas Lake. The summer before our freshman year we started showing an interest in each other. I'll never forget getting butterflies when Keaton put his arm around me for the first time on a nighttime boat ride with our family and friends. After many days texting, I officially became his girlfriend on December 5th, 2010. He asked me during a movie on a double date. So romantic I know, haha! We dated all the way through high school and were even voted Mr. and Mrs. Seymour our senior year. I am so thankful I had someone as great as him to be there for me during the growing pains of my teenage years. We then went to ETSU for undergrad, where life brought its new challenges. We had classes together, and it was so nice to have him to study with. It was funny the day we got our test scores back because we always wondered who did better. It was a bittersweet day when Keaton got into pharmacy school. I was so happy for him, but I knew I was losing my study partner, so it would be a change I’d have to adapt to. I also knew relocating and medical school was just around the corner. Leaving for medical school was the first time we were unable to see each other on a routine basis. However, Keaton would come see me on Fridays and take me to dinner, and it was always the highlight of my week. Keaton proposed to me exactly 10 years later on December 5th, 2020 in Chimney Rock, NC, one of the most special days of my life. We have both worked so hard to get where we are now and have supported each other through every life stage. Our relationship was truly meant to be!
