Lainie and Blake’s story began in 2020 in Avila Beach, where Lainie was the market girl and Blake was the lifeguard. After years of living just miles from each other, it took one fateful day in a place that already meant so much to both of them to finally bring them together. Blake remembers meeting Lainie for the first time and immediately feeling that there was something special about her. He couldn’t stop thinking about her, and what felt like a chance encounter quickly became the beginning of their story. On their first date, they hiked Avila Ridge, something Lainie was unknowingly training for and a first-date activity most people probably would have shut down. In true fashion, they followed the hike with mimosas at Mersea’s, a day they would recreate for years to come. From there came picnics at Montana de Oro, too many sushi dates to count, nights spent watching the stars, beach days, and countless adventures. On their first trip to Yosemite, Blake asked Lainie to be his girlfriend in February of 2021. As their relationship grew, so did the adventures. They road-tripped through Utah, camped under the stars in Big Sur, and found every excuse to explore somewhere new. Somewhere along the way, they became inseparable and realized how closely their values aligned, especially in the way they love to care for the people around them. They became the perfect hosting team, with Blake as the chef and Lainie chatting away - a match made in heaven! In 2022, Lainie graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and the very next day, Blake left for the academy to become an Engineer with CAL FIRE. Their first experience with long distance wasn’t always easy, but it made their time together even more meaningful. Before long, they moved into their first apartment together in Shell Beach. Life here felt like a little fairytale. They woke up near the beach, lived close to their best friends, and in 2023 brought home their first puppy, Murphy. As Blake’s career eventually took him to Monterey, they made the most of every moment together, from wine tasting and half marathon training to paddle boarding, camping, traveling, and even chasing Chris Stapleton around the country. Somewhere along the way, Lainie realized Blake had become more than her partner in adventure. He had become her safe place, her constant, and the person she knew she could count on for anything. He was the kind of man who showed up without ever having to be asked, often with fresh flowers, a clean house, and dinner waiting in the oven. In 2024, they found their way to Cayucos, where the beach became their backyard and they could fall asleep to the sound of the waves. It was there that they began to feel fully settled into the life they had been building together. They knew they had fallen in love with the Central Coast years ago, but now they were building a life within it. Lainie knew Blake was the one long before he ever got down on one knee. She had seen his patience, kindness, and sincerity with her family and knew he was the person she wanted beside her for every chapter still to come. In October 2025, after months of secret planning, Blake asked Lainie to spend the rest of their lives together at Stillwater Vineyards, a place they had returned to together for four years. They celebrated surrounded by family and friends who had watched their love grow from the very beginning. Now, Lainie and Blake will get married in Santa Margarita, just a short drive from where their story began. The Central Coast has been the backdrop to so many of their favorite memories, making it the only place they could imagine celebrating. For Lainie and Blake, their wedding day feels like both a finish line and a beginning. It is the culmination of everything they have built together and the start of everything still to come. After six years of adventures, growing together, building a life, and choosing each other everyday, they know that somehow the best is still ahead.
