Local things to do & see
Waterfalls - As Robertson is just at the top of an escarpment, there are multiple bushland waterfalls, of which the best-known are Carrington Falls, Belmore Falls and Fitzroy Falls. All are worth a visit. Illawarra Fly – this is a treetop walk with spectacular views over the escarpment to the coast. It is about 15 minutes by car from the Farm. Not suitable if you don’t like heights. Antiques, collectables and bric-a-brac – there are plenty of places for collectors in the Highlands, including Dirty Janes (in Bowral, about 35 minutes’ drive from the Farm), The Old Cheese Factory (in Robertson village), Mt Ashby Estate (near Moss Vale, about 20 minutes’ drive), Grandpa’s Shed (Fitzroy Falls, about 20 minutes’ drive). There are also others in Moss Vale and Bowral. Wineries/distilleries – there are various wineries within a half hour’s drive – including Centennial Vineyards (Bowral), Bendooley Estate (Berrima) and Mt Ashby Estate (Moss Vale). Historic sites – Retford Park is a National Trust Italianate stately home on the outskirts of Bowral with beautiful gardens. Both house and gardens are worth a visit. The former dairy now houses Ngununggula, the regional art gallery, and a very sweet little café. The village of Berrima (about 35 minutes’ drive) is a very pretty historic village with one of the country’s oldest gaols and one of its oldest pubs, as well as the National Trust Harper’s Mansion. Gardens – for garden lovers, we cannot recommend too highly Red Cow Farm in Sutton Forest (about 35 minutes’ drive), and the gardens at Retford Park (Bowral).
