Bitanya and Yonas met at Ohio University early 2017 at his sister's apartment when he came to visit. At the time Yonas went to college somewhere else in Ohio, but they instantly clicked when he visited OU. At the time, Bitanya had no idea Yonas had plans to transfer there in the fall. They both were kind of awkward around each other and did not speak much when he visited, but still had a good time. Bitanya joked around with Yonas' sister Abby and said things like "I'm going to marry your brother" (jokingly, but not really..). They exchanged numbers and social media, a few months later Yonas posted that he was transferring to Ohio University in the fall and Bitanya was over the moon. Move-in weekend happened, and quickly they reconnected...

On a beautiful fall Saturday, Yonas (the romantic he is) told Bitanya that they were going on a nice dinner (which is not unusual). Bitanya noticed that Yonas had quite a few errands to run that day, and became somewhat suspicious. They drove to a beautiful rooftop in Wicker Park and Bitanya noticed how quiet Yonas was the entire car ride. They soon arrived, and as they walked to their table, there was a beautiful set up with roses, pictures, candles, champagne, and a photographer. Bitanya was over the moon. It truly was like something out of a movie. After the most beautiful proposal, the photographer took the most gorgeous pictures (while Bitanya was sobbing), and then Yonas took Bitanya to her favorite restaurant in Chicago, Gibson's Italia to close out the night. It was the most amazing evening ever.
