Gateway Trailhead - McDowell Sonoran Preserve
Maddy worked here for a stint during graduate school and has done countless hikes here, but this is one of her and John's favorites! 4 miles and gorgeous views of the valley without the crowds of Camelback and Piestewa Peak ~20 minutes from The Scottsdale Resort

Desert Botanical Garden
This is one of the most breath-taking botanical gardens in the Southwest! If you are not up for a hike or being outdoors for longer than an hour, but still want to experience the unique desert flora of Arizona, this is the spot for you! ~20 minutes from The Scottsdale Resort
Buffalo Chip Saloon and Steakhouse
One of John and Maddy's favorite dancing spots with an authentic AZ experience. On top of being located in one of the most picturesque settings in the Valley, The Chip has incredible home cooked BBQ + steak and features live bull riding on Fridays, live music, country dancing, and so much more. Head up to historic Cave Creek for a boot-stomping good time! Bonus points if you start next door at Harold's. ~30 minutes north of The Scottsdale Resort

The scene of the crime!! If you are wanting to experience where John and Maddy met and see some of the best country swing dancers in the Southwest, this is the place to go! They do play some non-country late night :) ~40 minutes from The Scottsdale Resort

One of our absolute favorite breakfast places. You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu, but the pancakes are by far the best we have ever tried! Go early, as they do not accept reservations, and this is the hottest breakfast chain unique to the Valley!
