How We Met

First comes school, then comes marriage.

I know, I know you’ve all heard the story before of the high school sweethearts falling in love and marrying each other. But, that’s just what happened with the two of us! Ruben and I met my sophomore and his junior year of high school in an Algebra II math class. A few weeks after the first day of Algebra II, I finally asked him if he wanted to sit in front of me so we could work on our class work together, and he did. Right after class, I waited for him in the hallway to give him my number, saying that maybe he could help me with the homework (I knew I couldn’t let this sweet guy slip away). I patiently waited that night for a text, but it never came. So, I texted one of his friends to find out why he didn’t text me, and turns out, he thought I was using him for homework answers! Little did he know I had a good grade and I just used “homework help” as an excuse to talk to him. He eventually texted me and we have been inseparable since that day. We were both 16 when we met and neither of us knew that we would become high school sweethearts on the road to forever. We spent years in a long-distance relationship while he was in college and we had many ups and downs as all couples do, but we realized we are better versions of ourselves when we're together. Therefore, it was nostalgic for the proposal to be where it all started, Kempner High School, where two friends become each other’s soul mates. I can't wait to experience this new chapter of life together.
