This is the only airport on the island. You can find direct flights through Azores Airlines (SATA) from Boston. You can find direct flights through Azores Airlines (SATA) and United from the NYC area. TAP Portugal is usually cheaper, but has a layover in Lisbon.

Ideally, this is where we will all be staying together unless you opt for an offsite Airbnb or another hotel. All events except for the welcome party will take place here. Rental Car
Car Rentals
We will be providing bus services from the hotel to the welcome party but if you plan on exploring for a few days, you may decide to rent a car. There are plenty of taxis you can hire for a day of exploring if you don't need to rent a car. Uber/Lyft is not available on the island. Driving is easy in Sao Miguel - the roads are not crowded and are in good condition. Make sure to reserve your rental car in advance especially if you want an automatic car, as August is the high season for tourism. Manual cars are more readily available and cheaper than automatics. Note what type of gas your car takes - either gas (gasolina) or diesel (gasoleo). Unlike in the US, when getting gas, you fill your tank and then go inside to pay. IF PLANNING ON RENTING A CAR, WE RECOMMEND BOOKING ASAP ESPECIALLY IF YOU NEED AN AUTOMATIC.
