Breakfast diner directly across the street from the Hyatt Place- Wicker Park, the staff and food are great. Closes 3pm daily. Used to be open 24 hours. Anyone who spent some time in Wicker Park in those days has some stories.
Classic Chicago street food, open all day and all night if you just need to put something in. Not proud of the times I’ve eaten here, but grateful. Mary Beth likes the fried fish sandwich. Under the same ownership as Hollywood Grill, and also directly across the street from the Hyatt Place-Wicker Park.
Big grocery store with all the essentials, open until midnight. Walking distance from Hyatt Place-Wicker Park. We buy a lot of groceries here!
Local grocer a couple blocks down from Hyatt Place-Wicker Park. Their cafe serves delicious tacos!
Our preferred nail salon, if you need one. Opens 10am everyday. Call for an appointment.
Great bar, good drinks, and super-Chicago bar food menu. We have met friends here many a time, it’s right around the corner from the Division Blue Line stop, just down the street from the Hyatt Place-Wicker Park hotel.
This longtime Wicker Park dive bar recently got a facelift. And this is where Mary Beth told Bethany she had feelings for her (Bethany had already told MB as much)!
Indoor 9-hole mini golf course with a bar. Minors are allowed before 6pm. Something to do Saturday before the wedding, or if you come in town earlier in the week.
If you want to go back home saying you had Chicago deep dish pizza, don’t waste your time with Lou Malnati’s or Gino’s or anybody else. Go straight to the best - Pequod’s - with its caramelized crust. It’s also pretty close to the Hyatt Place-Wicker Park hotel, just a few blocks north and east in Lincoln Park, a famously swanky neighborhood. But! Give yourself plenty of time, it’s a popular joint and they don’t take reservations.
If you want a truly unique pizza experience, the Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Company makes what is essentially a pizza pot pie, and they turn it out upside down on your plate for an impossibly cheesy pile of pizza. Come for the pizza but stay for the salad…they’re dual salad dressing system is also unique and absolutely crave-able. People have been lining up around the block to get into this spot since 1972 so make your reservations in advance (if you can) or show up a couple hours early.
Incredible park with an ice skating ribbon, climbing wall, play garden, and more. Fantastic to take the kids to day-of before the wedding, or if you come in earlier in the week. Connected to the world-famous Millennium Park, home of Pritzker Pavilion and The Bean.
Great place for a meal if you’re checking out downtown, has been in business since 1935. This was one of our favorite spots to blow off steam after working an event at Millennium Park in the early days of our relationship.
We absolutely love coming here! It’s great for all ages. Basically, you “play” sports like golf, baseball, football, and dodge ball by launching the ball at a screen which is then projected onto the “field” on the screen. There is a bar, and the food menu is powered by one of the best burger brands in the country, Small Cheval. Then you can do some fancy downtown shopping in the 900 N Michigan mall or on Walton, Rush, and Oak street right outside.
The seat of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
