We met at Northern Arizona University in the fall of 2012 thanks to our mutual friends. Our paths crossed again throughout the next couple of years and our love story officially began on July 5, 2014 when Travis asked me to be his girlfriend. We celebrated by taking our first adventure together to Disneyland!
We both graduated from NAU in December 2015 with our bachelor's degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. After graduation, we decided our tiny apartment needed a puppy. On April 26, 2016 we brought home Copper, our new, rescued puppy.
Copper loved being an only child, but we thought he needed a friend. On August 23, 2017 we brought home sister-dog, Mila. Copper was not the biggest fan of his new sister and some days still isn't, but it was the second best decision we made!
We celebrated our 4 year anniversary by taking a trip to California. I had absolutely no idea that we were getting engaged that weekend. Travis had it in my head that we were not going to get engaged until after I was done with nursing school (May 2020). He made reservations for us at a very nice restaurant in Malibu that overlooked the ocean. He stressed all week about where we were going to dinner that night and I had no idea why! We got dressed up and had an amazing dinner while watching the sunset. After dinner, Travis had ordered a dessert ahead of time that had 'Happy Anniversary' written in chocolate on it. We ate our dessert and continued talking for a bit. After a while I was confused as to why we were still hanging out and had not left yet. I also thought it was weird that our waiter filled my glass of water, but had only filled Travis's glass with a splash of water when Travis said he was thirsty (the que). Travis grabbed my hands and started talking to me about forever. In my mind I was freaking out that this was it!! Or was it?! But he said after nursing school... Sorry guys this is where I blacked out because I was in SHOCK... Next thing I knew, he got out of his chair and knelt down in front of me with the most beautiful ring in his hands and asked me to marry him! I was in such shock that this was happening that I did not speak at first and just stared at him with a big smile. Eventually I said yes and everyone at the restaurant clapped for us while we kissed and hugged. The next morning I asked him to ask me again because I did not think it was real! I said yes again. We spent the rest of the weekend celebrating at Universal Studios.
Since we've been engaged, we have had a ton of life happen. Travis started his new career with New Mexico Game & Fish in November 2018. I started nursing school in August 2018 and graduate in May 2020. We moved out of our town home and eventually moved into a cute home in Edgewood, New Mexico. We originally set our date for September 19, 2020 after we got engaged. With so much life happening, we decided to have a small courthouse wedding on September 19, 2019 because we just could not wait.
