It was a late January night and the sky was clear so I thought it would be a good night to hike up Monkey Face in Upper Bidwell Park with someone I'd only met once before. As I'm walking up I see a small light in the distance. The tall man began to approach me, noticing I was using my phone flashlight, he offered one of his headlamps...The battery was dead. We had no choice but to walk together up the hill. I followed behind, mostly because his strides stretched much farther than mine but mainly to keep in sight what was in front of me. When we reached the top we sat over the edge & talked until our mouths dried out. The next day he took me indoor rock climbing. I was extremely nervous but he became my biggest fan that day & we've been inseparable since.
It was April 23rd and our last night in Florida. We found the most charming tiki hut tavern on the beach near Lauderdale-By-The-Sea. We noticed a gate at the end of the patio that led right to the ocean so we dropped our shoes, grabbed our margaritas & went for a walk. There was a beautiful boardwalk that seemed to stretch out to the end of the sea, only it was devastated by the recent storms. We kept walking & talking about adventure when he stopped suddenly to ask if I'd embark on the most sacred journey of all.
