Update from the Bride & Groom As COVID-19 continues to dramatically affect the globe, we have made the heartbreaking decision to postpone our wedding to July 11, 2020. Please refer back to this website for any information regarding the new date. The wedding will be happening at The Cotton Press in Little Mountain, SC instead of in Charleston, SC. Please watch your mailboxes for our official invitations to go out shortly. If you booked a room in the hotel block, please call them to cancel. Please check the Travel tab at the top for updated hotel information. If you still feel uncomfortable traveling, or being around a large crowd, we completely understand if you'd like to sit this one out. While we would love for everyone to be in attendance, your health and safety is our number one concern. This is not an easy conversation to have, trust us, but want you to know how much your love, support, and flexibility means to us. Stay healthy and wash those hands! See you in July! XO - Emily and Ben
The idea to propose to Emily started in late April on her birthday weekend with me telling some of her friends that I was going to take her to Paris and ask her to marry me. At the time, these unnamed individuals thought I was joking because we just happened to be at one of our favorite hangouts, Jake's Bar and Grill. Well a couple of months had passed and after a lot of planning and research on my part, the plan was put in place. Ring bought, flight and hotel booked and a secret surprise waiting for her across the Atlantic Ocean. Now if anyone of you know Emily as well as I do, you know that hiding something like this from her for month (or anything for that matter) is not easy to do and in fact somewhat impossible. Somehow, I pulled it off without a hitch. Well I should say the secret was kept until just a few days before us leaving when I finally had to tell her. The trip was positioned to be a last quick vacation of the summer before football season and the holidays started. After our 8 hour flight, 24 hours of no sleep and bottomless drink package on the plane, we were ready to hit the town when we landed. The only problem was, it was 7:00am local time in Paris. So we causally hit the town to see the touristy things until the afternoon snuck up on us. The whole I time I told her we had a formal dinner planned and to dress the part. However, on the way to the restaurant I wanted to stop by a famous bridge to get a picture of the Eiffel Tower in the background. The bridge is Pont de Bir-Hakeim. This was the place that the photographer and I decided to meet to capture our surprise engagement. After the proposal and quick photo shoot, we were off to dinner in the Eiffel Tour. The evening turned out to be the best ever and the rest is history. I was happy to return to our friends and family being able to say that Paris was a success!
