What is a "medieval storybook" theme?

Answer

We were inspired by our many trips to renaissance festivals for this theme, and wanted to incorporate the magic and fantasy we experienced there into this special day. For inspiration on outfits, check out the gallery, or use keywords such as "renaissance," "medieval," or "fantasy" attire on your favorite search engine.

Why do I need to wear a costume to your wedding?

Answer

We want our wedding to be fun for everyone! If dressing up in medieval or fantasy garb sounds exciting, we'd love for you to participate--but your comfort is the most important thing to us. We're sure you'll look great in traditional formal attire as well. We encourage all of our guests to step outside of their comfort zone and into a new character for our wedding, but the underlying message is to have a good time and celebrate the joining of two lovers.

Any tips on creating an outfit?

Answer

Often times a simple fantasy outfit can be built straight from your closet/costume bin! Some guests also plan to start with a "medieval themed" dress or suit, then pick out some accessories from a local thrift store. Get creative and have fun with it! Please note, weapons (knives, daggers, bows) are not allowed at our venue. Prop weapons are permitted if handled appropriately. We ask that our wedding be not a joust but a jolly good time.

What is the venue like?

Answer

Cedar Ridge Lodge is an indoor venue with parking, a small kitchen, and restrooms. We plan to celebrate in the dining hall, on the covered deck, and on the outdoor balcony space overlooking the gorge. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about the space or accommodations!
