Benjamin moved to St. Simons in 2017 working as a caddie on Sea Island. Shortly after her graduation in May of 2017 from Georgia Southern Erica visited St. Simons with her roommate. In December of 2017 Benjamin and Erica took a trip to the World Golf Hall of Fame for his birthday with their friends, Zack Tatham and Mitch Larby. Over the previous months of spending most everyday together Benjamin decided to ask Erica to be his girlfriend
