We met in graduate school at Western Kentucky University. Jamie was working towards his Masters in Clinical Psychology and I was working towards my Specialist in Education in School Psychology. The two programs overlapped and we had several classes together. I had gotten to know him throughout the first year of our programs and thought he was the sweetest guy. Apparently the feeling was mutual because he asked me out during Thanksgiving weekend in 2015. Our first date was on December 5, 2015! Three years and two states later, we are planning our wedding!

I had planned a girl's weekend with one of my best friends, Natalie (at least that is what she and Jamie had me thinking). The plan was for her to come to town, we would go to Arrington Vineyards Saturday afternoon, and finish the night with dinner in downtown Nashville. I told Jamie that I was having a girls weekend with Natalie and asked if he was staying in Bowling Green. Jamie told me that he would come to Nashville Friday and drive us to and from Arrington Saturday so we wouldn't have to worry (SO NICE- I should have picked up on this). SO the three of us spent the day there and enjoyed lots of wine and snacks. When we were about to leave, Jamie and Natalie asked if we could go to another part of the Vineyard where there was live music and places to take pictures. Begrudgingly, I went with them but asked if we could leave because it was crowded. We found a secluded spot away from the crowd and Natalie and I took several pictures together. Then she told Jamie to stand with me and she would take a few of us. Next thing I know, he's down on one knee asking me to marry him! He had to repeat himself because I heard NOTHING the first time around. Of course I said YES! After the initial shock wore off, Jamie said he would join us for dinner now considering we were ENGAGED (DUH). As we were driving back from the vineyards, he headed the direction of my parents house because "my grandparents were there and wanted to congratulate us." We turned onto their road and I began to see the cars of at least 20-30 friends and family! Jamie had planned a proposal and a surprise engagement party for me! It was the best day of my life thus far!
