After a long day at work, both of us ended up at Creek side bar and grill for karaoke night. While singing Drink in My Hand by Eric Church I noticed a beautiful girl dancing close to the stage. As it happens, after my song was a break at which point the DJ played the Wobble. Now I am not much of a dancer, but the Wobble is my one dance! I like to think I could have won any girl that night with my dancing skills, but Tasha swooped in to save me (she claims!) from all the cougars in the bar. After the Wobble I went out to the deck to catch my breath, Natasha followed me out and asked to bum a cigarette. After some casual conversation and quick wit, we hit it off and the journey began!
The day before my birthday, Tasha and I took a trip to Wilmington NC to go tour the Battleship North Carolina. I had a ring burning a hole in my pocket, waiting for the right opportunity to pop the question. Tasha looked exceptionally beautiful this day, but I was distracted thinking I was going to lose the ring somewhere along the tour. Tasha, unbeknownst to me had seen the ring box in my pocket, and was rushing us through to get to another surprise she had planned for my birthday. The Cape Fear Serpentarium was her plan but was devastated because it had closed down. We decided to go for a stroll down the Cape Fear Riverwalk. We picked Elijah's Restaurant for a late lunch, and I saw my opportunity. I stopped and asked the bartender to make a special martini to place the ring in. The next half hour I think I flat-lined twice as she almost swallowed the ring! Finally she looked into the glass thinking there was a bug in her drink, at which point she finally saw the ring and said "oh I see what you did there!" I got down on one knee and asked the most special girl ever in my life to Marry me! The whole staff and restaurant clapped (the staff had been eagerly waiting the whole time). And the journey continues...
