What seemed like an ordinary night on the volleyball court, was soon to be transformed into the next chapter of Michael and Bela's lives. A fiery individual approached Michael mid-set, introducing herself with: “Hello, my name is Bela”. From this moment forward, the night was transformed into what was soon to become the defining moment in both of their lives. As the lights died out on the court, Michael and Bela and their friend Christiana dove into conversation about their backgrounds and passions, specifically for their love for Jesus, and their passion for finding solace through running. The next morning, the three of them agreed to sojourn into the Bosque for a quick run. The next few weeks felt like bliss, as Michael’s usual solo stomping ground was accompanied by a companion. Although there had been no spoken feelings by either, they slowly grew closer together. Frequent get-togethers with good company in friends, and late nights talking about all the things and everything that makes life beautiful had soon become a way of life for them. Michael consulted with his closest friends, Josh and Noah, and shared his thoughts with them. Michael explained how Bela seemed to light up his stormy skies, and how her character and compassion for others was just the tip of the iceberg when it came to her intimate relationship with the Lord. Michael was astounded by her excitement and passion for Christ, and fell in love with her beauty. Bela also debriefed with her closest friends, Christiana and Alix, who both observed their growing love. Bela explained how Michael was not only talented and wise, but he also was generous and served intentionally for the kingdom; putting his love for the Lord into action. Noah played wing man, and encouraged both to share their unspoken feelings with each other. Late July 2023 was their first “date”, taking place at the Prairie Star restaurant. Their shared passion for photography had led them to shoot a wedding there. This defining evening was the official beginning of their new love for each other. As the summer turned into fall, Bela packed her belongings to move back to Phoenix. She was in the tail end of her bachelors degree there. Michael was devastated, as he felt his closest companion was a million miles away. What seemed like a challenge turned into each falling deeper into love, with meaningful conversations about their lives frequenting the airwaves. Michael was in awe as Bela showed such passion for media and broadcasting, and dove deeper into her love for Jesus. The long distance was difficult, but many late nights on the phone, and frequent visits back and forth for both made the time fly by. Soon, Bela was to be graduating, and would be moving back to Albuquerque. Two months before receiving her diploma, Michael meticulously planned his proposal, and Josh joined in the detailed planning. Many others joined in on the surprise too, and the plan was set into action on March 29th, 2024. Many family and friends witnessed their commitment to take the next step toward marriage. As a surprise to nobody, Bela saw it coming from a mile away. It is only due to the great support of all our family and friends, and only by the good grace of God, that we are so blessed to officially begin the rest of our lives as one under the Father.
