Bailey and Devon first met at a college basketball game in 2019. Bailey played for Southern Maine Community College and Devon for the University of Maine at Augusta. After seeing each other, the two connected on social media and started dating in May. They kicked off the summer with a date to the movies, and ever since then, they’ve been in love. After dating for three years, the topic of marriage had come up a few times. Devon had planned on asking Bailey to marry him for quite a while, and Bailey was not subtle about her desire to get engaged. After spending more time at the jewelry store picking out a ring than Devon would like to admit, he was finally ready to propose. Eager to make the proposal perfect, he enlisted the help of one of Bailey’s sisters, Moriah. She quickly rid Bailey of any suspicions of an upcoming proposal and ensured that her nails looked good just in case (even though he totally wasn’t going to propose) ;) Devon planned to propose at Tumbledown Mountain, where the couple had their second date. Bailey had arranged to go hiking there, hoping that such a perfect spot would encourage Devon to pop the question. Devon was beginning to worry that she was on to him. If Bailey is anything, it’s persistent. Worried, he almost gave in and told her several times, but he stayed strong. Eventually, Devon’s acting skills made Bailey believe that a proposal might actually never happen. As a result, when the hiking day came on September 10, 2022, Bailey didn’t want to go. She didn’t want to set herself up for disappointment. Shocked, and a little stressed, Devon was able to convince Bailey to get out of bed and pack for their trip. He would not be deterred. Once the pair reached the summit, Devon told Bailey that he wanted to take some pictures of her. Back to and after taking in the view for several minutes, Bailey wanted to be done so she could eat lunch, but Devon wasn’t ready. Still fumbling to open the ring box, he told her to wait just a little longer. Finally, she turned around to see Devon down on one knee, and it was there that he asked her to marry him. She said yes. The couple currently lives together in Vassalboro with their Golden Retriever pup, Maverick, their cat, Millie, and their many chickens and ducks. Their dream is to one day build their forever home with a barn on their 11 acres in Vassalboro and start homesteading! They are so excited to spend the rest of their lives together and can’t wait to celebrate their vows with their family and friends on September 6, 2024. They hope to see you there.
