Our Celebration

05.25.24

Who doesn't love a little friendly competition? Join us as Team Bride battles Team Groom in a variety of challenges. There will be an open bar and tacos for all to enjoy. We are one big family now so teams will be assigned at random. May the odds forever be in your favor. "Some of you may die, but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make." -Lord Farquaad

Our Wedding

10.29.2023

We didn't want the stress of planning a wedding so we eloped in our backyard with the presence of a few family members and even fewer friends. We had 8 guests in attendance, 9 including our dog, Ollie. We started the day preparing sacred cacao with the intention of love and unity while everyone else went outside to decorate our arbor (made of vines we later discovered to be poison ivy) with flowers kindly donated by our neighbor. While we drank the chocolate, we had family present items representing themselves and our grandparents. These items were placed in a weatherproof box and buried in the backyard the same spot we said our vows. Brittany really wanted to honor our ancestors for they're the ones who allowed us to exist. Kelly Owens, mother of the groom, began by presenting an old fishing lure that once belonged to her father and a piece of pottery created by her mother. She told stories of her parents and explained why she chose those particular items. For herself, she made a bracelet made of Brittany and Keegan's birthstone colors. Following Kelly was Jaime Lugo, father of the bride. He presented a coffee cup that was cherished by his father and one of his mother's original bingo dabbers... We have videos of each presentation for those who are interested. I will run out of characters if I go in depth on everyone's selections. Overall, it was extremely sentimental, heartwarming, and by far exceeded our expectations. Once all items were in the box, everyone except Brittany and Jaime went out to the arbor. Keegan began the ceremony with a custom script then gave Brittany the cue to "walk down the aisle." Jaime walked Brittany to Keegan, handing her off to the love and protection of another man. Keegan and Brittany conducted the ceremony themselves ending with the sacred union of two souls. The rest of the day was spent eating food at our favorite local Mexican restaurant followed by a couple rounds of pickleball. Thank you to everyone that supported our relationship over the last 5 years. We're grateful for the love and support and so excited to celebrate with everyone we love!
