David and Emily "met" at the Disney wedding of Emily's brother, Will, in March of 2017, though they go way farther back than that. You would think that after hearing all of Will's stories about dumb things David did or said or after visiting their horrific apartments at UIUC for years, Emily would not have eyes for David. But they danced. There was Disney magic. And they both tried to sit next to each other at the EPCOT fireworks show later that night. But David lived in Florida and Emily in Illinois...

A few months and many text messages later, David asked Emily if she wanted to try to date via Skype. It was an enthusiastic yes-why-did-it-take-you-so-long. They had their first date on Skype, and then their first in-person date at Disney's Boardwalk a month later. About six months and several back-and-forth visits after that, Emily moved to Florida to be closer to Disney World... rather, David.

On September 27, 2019, David asked Emily to marry him (totally not a surprise, thanks, Disney) on a boat, floating off of Disney's Boardwalk just before one of the last showings of the same aforementioned EPCOT fireworks show. Now everyone go awwwww!
