Traditional Knocking

The Wedding Website of Isabella Dzidefo Asamoah and Raymond Kwame Batsa
The first step in our cultural traditions for a union is asking the family of the bride for permission to marry. On December 20th, 2020, Raymond Kwame, the groom, will perform the knocking on the door of the Isabella Dzidefo's home and await entry. When the groom's knock is accepted, his delegation of family and friends, will presents gifts like spirits for pouring libation. The groom will announce his intentions and both families discuss the meaning of becoming one and give their blessing for the union. Celebrations begin after the bride also accepts the knocking and intentions, to begin the engagement period. The "knocking on the door" is performed and practiced as a sign of respect for the bride's family and cultural heritage. Thank you for blessing our union.
