Becky and Will met during their freshman year at Virginia Tech through a mutual friend, Melissa. Melissa lived a few doors down from Becky in the dorms and Will was one of Melissa's good high school friends. For their first night ever out in college, they went off campus to Will's older brother, Jacob's, apartment. Will and Becky met for the first time that night and continued to hang out here and there throughout freshman year but kind of lost touch through sophomore and junior year. Fast forward to fall of senior year and Becky receives a text from Will asking her to his fraternity Thanksgiving date party. Becky was caught a little off guard since she had not seen or talked to Will recently but she was also excited to reconnect! They attended the date party together and the rest was history! Will had a mustache and a mullet at the time they reconnected and still claims to this day that it was the mustache that won Becky over.
Becky was currently on her last rotation for school in Maryland and Will was working full time in Virginia Beach. It was Easter weekend and Will's birthday weekend so they planned on going to his parents house in Salem, VA to attend Blacksburg Fork and Cork wine festival. They had done this the past couple of years for Will's birthday so it didn't seem like anything out of the ordinary. All of Will's siblings were also coming into town and Becky had talked to her parents earlier that week who were planning on staying home for the weekend and doing some house work. That Saturday morning, they planned on eating at a restaurant called Billy's in downtown Roanoke before heading to the wine festival that afternoon. Will's parents and siblings/significant others were all coming along so they had to take a couple of cars to Roanoke. Will and Becky rode with his sister, Meg and her boyfriend, Brian. They got there a little early so they decided to go for a walk around downtown Roanoke before the lunch reservation at 11. When they got to the center of downtown, Becky noticed Meg and Brian had stopped walking and she said, "sooo, where are we going next?". No one was really making eye contact with her and next thing she knew, she turned around and Will was on one knee! Of course she said "YES!" but mainly was screaming, "I can't believe this just happened!". Becky could not have been more surprised but little did she know, that was just the beginning! As they all walked to Billy's to meet the rest of Will's family, she saw her parents waiting with them outside of the restaurant and immediately bursted into tears. She had no idea that they were in town or even knew that this was happening this weekend! They all ate at Billy's, which was the same restaurant that Will and Becky's parents first met 4 years prior at their college graduation. Afterwards, they all attended the wine festival together. BEST WEEKEND EVER.
