We were in our first week of classes at Indiana University when we first met. Deacon instantly caught Becca's eye but Deacon was unavailable at the time, so Becca waited. We started showing interest in each other in February of 2020, but we all know where that went... nowhere thanks to #covid. We did not keep in touch during the pandemic other than random messages here and there. When we came back to Bloomington for the fall semester, it did not take long to pick up right where we left off! We hung out once on our own in September of 2020 and 2 days later it was official!

Fun fact about Becca... she LOVES surprises!!!! Which stressed Deacon out to surprise her with the proposal. We wanted to get engaged in Bloomington and during the school year that way we could celebrate with all of our friends. Knowing that Becca was not patient, Deacon decided to pop the question the day before classes started, which also happened to be the day before Becca's Platinum Taylor Swift Birthday!! It was perfect! Deacon told Becca he wanted take her to dinner before her birthday party on Sunday and then asked his best friend (and Best Man, Charlie) to create some odd reason for us to go onto campus after dinner but before her party. Deacon and his sentimental self popped the question in front of the building we first met! It was and still is a special place in our hearts so it was the perfect place to ask the very important question.
