How we met

12.6.2022

Adam was just bumbling along when Val buzzed by his Bumble profile, an online dating app. Val was hesitant to enter into the online dating scene because of all the horror stories she heard and let's be honest, online dating in your upper 30's, a living nightmare. Adam had been online dating for several months and just couldn't find his perfect match. One fateful day, he was bumbling along and came across the busiest bee in the honey pot, but also the most beautiful. Eager to know more about this Queen Bee, he swiped right! At this point, he waited with baited breath for her to respond to his buzz worthy question to get the conversation started. Val took the bait (honey) and the two began chatting for hours, like two worker bees passing in the night. The rest, as they say, is history!

The Proposal

8.24.2023

The proposal had to be perfect. It had to involve the kids. It needed to have witnesses. What better place than Adam's company summer party. Prior to the proposal, Adam told Cadence, Natalie, and Lily that he purchased the ring and was preparing for the proposal. Around the same time, Adam and Val were preparing to move in together so it was a bit chaotic packing up our lives. Adam, in his greatest idea to date, thought to put the ring in his dresser drawer as to "hide" it from Val seeing it. I mean, why would she ever need to open his clothes drawer? Well, his idea failed miserably and Val saw the ring was purchased, but had to use all of her will power to not open it. Val confessed to Adam later that she saw the ring box. Adam told her that she would now be punished with a longer wait for me to propose due to her indiscretion, though knowing Adam had the whole thing planned out already. Fast forward to the day of the party, Adam offered to emcee the prize portion of the party as part of his plan. Adam planned for Val to win the last prize by taking the matching raffle tickets and calling out the number. Adam gave Val the winning raffle ticket in case he picked their ticket. The last prize of the night was a company water bottle. Earlier in the day, Adam bought several big ring pops and stuffed the bottle with colored cotton balls and ring pops as to fake her out. Adam ate one of the ring pops and replaced it with the real ring. Adam called out the number on the raffle ticket and to Val's surprise, she won! Adam told her to open the bottle in front of everyone to show them what kind of candy was inside. Val came up to receive her prize and upon opening the bottle, the real ring was sitting at the top. At this point, the proposal was official!
