July 2, 2017 Mike and Mikka Dee's first date was a classic tale of a damsel in distress. They arranged to meet on the Austin boardwalk that bridged the gap between their two homes. Once Mike realized after 20 minutes that Mikka Dee was not coming to meet him, he arrived at the gate of her condominiums to find her trapped without a key to get out of the gate. After a swift rescue, they walked to a nearby coffee shop called The Buzzmill. They grabbed coffee, and by the time they realized it, they had talked for over 4 hours. The rest is history.

March 16, 2019 The Austin Moontowers have a very special place in Mike & Mikka Dee's hearts. They have a shared love of the unique history behind them. Last year they mapped out where all 15 moontowers were, and had a fun night of driving around to photograph them all. Mikka Dee kept asking Mike what he wanted to do for his 31st birthday this year, and was very excited when he told her he wanted to go visit all the moontowers again for his birthday. They had made their way to see about half of them, when they got to one moontower, "their moontower" at Lynn & Canterbury. They could see this moontower from the boardwalk across the lake. Mikka Dee was a little blown away when Mike pulled his guitar out of the car and said he wrote a special song for this moontower. He got down on one knee, serenaded Mikka Dee, and pulled out the most beautiful ring. She said Yes! Mikka Dee then realized that they were not alone! Both of their families came running from their hiding spot down the street. There were lots of tears and hugs all around.
