How We Met...

"Slow and Steady Wins the Race."

We had met through mutual friends during our junior year of college. Although, we went to the same high school, we never officially met. I like to think he secretly saw me passing him in the hallways from time to time and thought to himself, "wow, I'm going to marry her someday," but not all love stories start like that. Our love story started with a simple ride home from a friends house on New Years Eve. Months went by and we met again at a mutual friends birthday party. We chatted, did some pull ups, and I impressed him with my great sense of humor and amazing baking skills. I knew there was something special about him even though I thought I was not ready for any type of relationship at that time. Somewhat secretly, our friend tried to set us up at another get together. However, that night I was tired and didn't feel like doing anything. Not too long after I cancelled, I received a facebook message from no one other than Ian Barr himself. He asked for my number and we ended up texting all night. Fast forward over 9 years later, here we are...happily engaged, proud parents to our dog Bougie, and soon to be husband and wife. Some would say he took too long....I would 100% agree! However, I wouldn't change it for anything because then we would't have the perfect romantic proposal story we have now, would we?

How He Proposed...

"My Little Family"

I would say Ian was never much of the romantic type. He's the kind of guy that would try and surprise me, but then get too excited and ruin the surprise. You get what I'm trying to say. Well I have to say he pulled off the BIGGEST surprise ever (thanks to my friend too- you know who you are). I had planned a girls night with my childhood best friend. We were going to get our nails done because it desperately needed it, and then go out to eat! Of course, dressing up was required because there's not too many occasions in Vermont to do that. However, mother nature had other plans because it turned out to be a rainy and gross day out. Long story short, nails ran late, the rain was a downer, and we were hungry. So we changed our plans and ordered takeout to bring back to my place and eat. We get inside, and the first thing I see is a playpen set up with the most precious Bernese Mountain dog puppy. (PSA I knew about the puppy, we had planned to pick him up together but he surprised me by doing it a day earlier) I immediately started crying. Ian walks around the corner in a full suit with flowers and at this point I just thought he was surprising me with the puppy and nothing more. He was chewing his gum, down on his knee, when he asked me the big question. I was ugly crying but manage a yes and nod! Bougie was crying, I was crying, Ian was chewing his gum. It was perfect!
