Once upon a time, a nursing student's friend convinced her to sign up for Tinder "just for fun". Little did that nursing student know that she would match with a respiratory therapy student that she connected with. After a week of texting back and forth (and much patient persistence on his part), they met. He came with gummy bears (her favorite study candy) for her and a birthday gift for her son. They had coffee then walked and talked for hours. There was definitely a spark, which grew over time as they met each other's children and began to imagine what a new family would look like.

After Christmas Eve service at church, Robert asked Shelby if she would take a few pictures of their children in front of the Christmas tree. She pulled out her phone and corralled four kids and managed to get them all smiling and pointing in the same direction at the same time. Proud of herself, she turned to look for Robert. Much to her surprise he was waiting behind her on one knee, ring box in hand. "I love you baby, will you marry me?" he asked. She said yes, and adults and children alike started yelling and jumping up and down.
