How We Met

Turns out blind dates can actually work out once in a while

Erin: the nerdy children's book illustrator girl living in the city. William: the quiet data analyst farm boy from the country. Erin had met her friend Soleil through a Dungeons and Dragons group, and Soleil asked if she would be interested in going on a blind date with a friend of her husband's. William's best friend Chase asked if he would be interested in going on a blind date with a friend of his wife's. The four of them worked out the details and met up on a double date for pizza and putt-putt one Monday evening in August. Will drove his coolest motorcycle and Erin wore her cutest outfit (and actually put on makeup, which is saying something). Erin wasn't sure about this country guy who was into cars and tractors, and William wasn't sure about this city girl who was into art and probably too high maintenance anyway. But they decided to take a chance. Erin thought his Moto Guzzi was sorta sexy, and William discovered that she was actually pretty cool and laid back. He asked for her number and they set up a time to meet again. A few weeks later, he took her out for dinner, and they've been hanging out ever since. :)

The Proposal

11.14.20

After weeks of frustrating production delays with the ring (unbeknownst to Erin), they went for a bicycle ride around Will's neighborhood, one of their favorite activities to do together. On the final stretch just before turning onto his street, Will pretended to get a leg cramp. Hopping off his bike, he crouched over, yelling "OW OW LEG CRAMP" and then whipped around, knelt down and held out the ring, all in one suave motion (Erin was actually impressed with how smooth it was). Even though she was expecting it, Erin still cried (to her embarrassment), and they happily rode back to his house, where both their families were waiting to surprise them (and Erin cried again).
