We met at work when Jen started in July 1988. Jen worked in the Photo Lab, and Barb was a Cartographer. We interacted because we worked on different phases of the same projects. We started hanging out, having lunches and dinners together. Then Jen invited Barb to spend a day at the Farm in May of 1989. The photo of Barb with a fish is from that day. Then, on November 19, 1989 Barb called Jen to go to Great Falls on a hike. We consider this to be our official first date. We had fun time at the Falls, then had dinner at Joe's Place Pizza and Pasta in Falls Church. And, now 30+ years later we are still together.

It was the Saturday after Thanksgiving at the Farm. Jen and I rode her truck up to the top of the hill at Granddaddy Higham's old part of the Farm. The view is spectacular from there, and we've always loved that spot. We always go there to take in the view and the beauty of the mountains. The photo above is at that spot on Engagement Day. I knew this was our favorite place on the property, and this is where I would propose to Jen. We got out of the truck to admire the view on this beautiful Fall day. I turned around to face Jen, and asked her to marry me, and be my wife. I think she was shocked, and it took her a minute to realize what I was saying. She actually asked me to repeat myself. Then, she said ABSOLUTELY I will be your wife! Then we went back to the cabin where Jen's family was, and told them our news. Much rejoicing and tears followed. We look forward to getting married on our 33rd Anniversary, and celebrating with you all!
