Stop! It’s Balcom Time! We’re getting married!!!

On a blustery cold day in March of 2022, Danielle was bundled up trying to thaw before bedtime and scrolling on an online dating app named Hinge. On the day she planned to delete the app, she decided to scroll through one last time with very low expectations… Little did Danielle know, she came upon a man named Greg! She decided to send a like and a greeting on the apps messenger understanding that a response was not promised. On that same blustery night, Greg was alerted by Hinge that someone sent him a like and a message! He quickly noticed Danielle and decided to investigate her profile before responding. Greg noticed Danielle was beautiful in all of her profile pictures but one stood out. The picture is described as capturing Danielle’s true form of “clowning around” with friends. Danielle was making a face for the camera and Greg knew at that point, there was something special about this one! After several days of exchanging messages on the app, and then several more of exchanging text messages, Greg and Danielle decided it was time to meet! Greg had no idea that Danielle had requirements that needed to occur before meeting in-person. Danielle said that a phone call or two needed to take place and then at least one video call. Within a 1 week timeframe, these took place. On April 2, 2022, Greg and Danielle met in-person to throw some axes in Cadillac! Greg will eventually admit that Danielle was quite the natural while he was likely to be a spectator at any such competition. Then they went and enjoyed dinner and beverages at a local bar. Upon Danielle ordering tater tots with Au Jus, while Greg ordered a burger, he knew this was going to be the one. It didn’t take long for Greg to ask Danielle to be his girlfriend. And it happened on 4/20/2022. It must be shared that exactly 1 year after our first date, we returned to Skeggox Axe Throwing. Greg is proud to share that he had no problem landing the hatchet on the bullseye or bending down to pick up Danielle’s failed attempt! And we also re-ordered our same meals from the Cadillac Party Lounge which did not disappoint!

On 4/14/2023, Greg and Danielle were in Petoskey. Danielle had told Greg many times how a specific park, on the outskirts of Petoskey off US 31 , was a place she had been many times. She described this as her “happy place”. Greg drove Danielle to East Park and parked near the water. Now, if you know Danielle and Greg, you also know that they enjoy the hobby of birding. Greg handed Danielle her binoculars and they began down the walking path. Several birds were noticed hopping on the rocks along Lake Michigan. Danielle quickly pointed out a raft of ducks a ways down shore. As they got a little closer, Greg told Danielle to look at a specific Duck and see if she could try and identify it. While she glassed at the duck, Greg quickly removed the engagement ring he purchased that week and got down on one knee. Greg wasn’t sure how long Danielle would take to look at the Duck but wanted to be ready. He also retrieved his phone to record the reaction and quickly positioned it looking up towards Danielle. Danielle turned around and seen Greg down on a knee. She blurted out, “you’re doing this now!?!” Without any hesitation, Greg told Danielle that she brings so much joy to his life and wants that to be forever. Greg asked, “Danielle Joy Woods, will you Marry Me?” SHE SAID YES! Well and now we’re here!
