FAQs

Question

When do I need to book a room by?

Answer

Our deadline to reserve your room is December 1st, 2024. To reserve your room, you will need to work with Jennifer and pay the $100 deposit. We have a room block with a certain number of rooms available in each category. There will be another wedding at the resort the same day as ours. It may be challenging if we need to find additional rooms once the block has filled.

Question

What if I find a better room rate outside the room block?

Answer

We have your best interest in mind and want to make sure you get the best deal on your room! The benefit of a room block is that if you can not make the deposit right now, the price is not going to change. Additionally, by booking within the room block, it will keep you with the group, be included with any “rewards” and be well taken care of by Jennifer (our travel agent) and the vendors. Please reach out to Jennifer for these types of questions and to compare pricing/review rates.

Question

Is there good wifi/cell service at the resort?

Answer

We were able to visit the resort in May 2024 for wedding planning and had great experiences with the wifi. The resort has an app that connects you to everything going on at the resort each day! When you check in, the concierge will help you get your phone set up. In terms of cell service, check with your phone provider as they may have an agreement for users traveling to Mexico.

Question

How do we get from the airport to the resort?

Answer

When booking your room with Jennifer, your transportation to and from the airport/resort is included. The airport was recently updated but there are many signs and directions on where to go once you have cleared customs and picked up your luggage. It was about a 20 - 30 minute drive to the resort for us when we visited in May 2024.

Question

Things to know about the Cancun Airport

Answer

When you land in Cancun, you will need to go through customs before you can pick up your bags. If you are traveling with anyone under 18, you will need to speak with a customs officer and the line can be a little long at times. If everyone in your party is over 18, you will be able to use the electronic entry system. You will get a ticket when you go through - don't lose it as you will need that ticket to return to the U.S. After clearing customs, you will be directed to baggage claim. When we traveled in May 2024, we made it through customs in about 10 minutes, but then had to wait an hour or so on baggage. All this to say, plan to expect to spend some time in the airport clearing customs and picking up your bags.

Question

What is the beach like in May?

Answer

May is early in the Mexico sargassum season (April - October). So yes, there was seaweed on the beach when we visited BUT the resort does a good job cleaning up the beach as much as possible, so it is pretty minimal. The seaweed is fresh, so its not smelly or sticky, its just kind of there. We had a great time at the beach and you get used to it pretty quick!

Question

What kind of sunscreen can I take to Cancun?

Answer

Before our trip in May, I read about the sunscreen for Cancun needing to be coral reef safe. We took 2 bottles Sun Bum (lotion) with us and we highly encourage you to do the same. I would advise against the sprays as the wind is frequent and we saw many bad sunburns. The sun is pretty direct, so you will want to make sure you reapply your sunscreen often. We were there for about 6 days and almost ran out of our sunscreen. If you want you can purchase a bottle of Banana Boat or other popular sunscreen brands in the resort store, but it runs for $36/bottle.

Question

I'm thinking of wearing heels for the wedding, any thing to know about this?

Answer

Ladies, this one is for you! While we were visiting I noticed there are quite a few areas (our reception space included) that has a lovely deck walkway. However, between the deck boards, there is just enough space for your stiletto heels (or skinny heels) to get stuck! I would suggest wearing a block heel (wider/thicker heel base) or wedge shoe to avoid any possible mishaps.

For all the days along the way
