Let's Celebrate!

While both Caroline and Jordan spent several summers attending Kanakuk Kamp near Table Rock Lake in southwest Missouri, it wasn’t until the summer of 2017 that they met while serving as kamp counselors. During that summer, they were both scheduled to facilitate the same kamp activity and the perspective of “how that went” is a little different depending on who you ask! Caroline and Jordan had informal interactions here and there until Jordan officially asked Caroline to go "on a walk". In kamp terms, “a walk” is essentially a date at kamp that is informal but intentional. Their relationship continued to grow and as they got to know each other better, they started dating soon after kamp ended in late summer of 2017.

During January of 2020, Jordan made a quick trip to Kansas City where he paid a visit to Caroline’s parents. While his visit was during a Chiefs comeback victory, Jordan asked for her hand in marriage and they whole heartedly gave their permission (a Chiefs win that day was icing on the cake)! With Caroline’s parents’ permission in hand, Jordan planned the proposal event for January 26 in Branson, Missouri and here’s his story. He told Caroline that he would be in Dallas, Texas for a weekend trip to recruit basketball players for Kanakuk’s Link Year basketball team. Caroline continued with her weekend plans as she was fully aware that the basketball team often traveled on weekends, so it was normal for Jordan to be gone over the weekend. On that Sunday, Caroline attended church with friends and enjoyed lunch together. While on their route home, Caroline’s friend took a different route home and while Caroline doesn't have a great sense of direction, she trusted her friend’s navigation skills! As they pulled into a local park, there was Jordan anxiously awaiting their arrival. The two of them went on a walk where Jordan proposed! Caroline said “yes”! While all of this was occurring, family and friends were putting the final touches on an engagement party and reception where everyone surprised the newly engaged couple!
